Anniversary Photos | Couple In Oconee County, GA

I was so honored when I got the call to photograph these two for their anniversary photos. They are such a loving couple who really enjoy their time together, which is very evident. Such romantics. They celebrate the entire month for their anniversary every year, which is also what they do for their birthdays too. They are so lucky to have each other and are amazing role models to their children and grandchildren.

We did their anniversary photos in their backyard here in Oconee County, GA. They reside here as well as Atlanta – splitting their time between locations to be closer to their families. It may be Winter, but their yard resulted in beautiful and meaningful images. The husband is an artist whose paintings are just amazing, which made it that much more of a compliment that they chose me to photographer their anniversary photos. Means a lot to have that vote of confidence from another visual artist.

Heirloom Photography Athens, GA

Heirloom photography is such a classic tradition, especially here in the South.

Many families mark a certain age for each of their children’s heirloom photography portraits that end up framed on their walls for all the generations. I cannot count how many times I have seen these timeless art pieces on people’s walls. Some are hand painted on canvas, some printed on canvas and others are matted. But, they are all framed and displayed proudly on their walls as a gallery of all the family members through time. What a wonderful way to celebrate your family and show how much they are loved.

These siblings came all at the same time, which allowed them to be photographed separately and also together. When doing heirloom photography sessions I really like doing a few group images, close ups and full body. Utilizing chairs, benches or stools is always a great way to add variety so that parents can choose what will be best as finished artwork in their home.

Mom dressed her girls in matching heirloom pastel pink dresses with the most beautiful finishings of lace, ruffles, ribbon and embroidery. Big brother was dressed in a classic white button down shirt and tan pants. Very fitting for their ages.

What to wear for heirloom photography portraits.

Most parents dress their children in heirloom outfits that have been passed down in the family, while others opt for home sewn new creations. Others purchase new outfits that become family heirlooms.

1st Birthday | Milestone Photographer Athens, GA

As a milestone photographer, I have the privilege of watching babies grow through the lens of my camera. Since babies develop at different rates, I always recommend photographing milestones of a babies life instead of an exact month. This little lady came in for her first birthday milestone, which happened to be when she was able to stand on her own and take a few steps! Such a change from her newborn photo session.

This is one of my favorite set ups that I do for a baby’s first birthday milestone photo session. The simple white balloons are fitting for the occasion, but they also don’t distract from the birthday girl/boy, add interest and gives the baby something to do. The simple white floor and walls also keep the eye on the most important subject. The sheer drapery and window is always a fun thing for a baby. I mean, what baby doesn’t like to play peek a boo and look out the window?!
