Senior Pics In Field – Watkinsville

Time for senior pics!!!! School starts tomorrow here in Oconee County, which means that it is also the beginning of the last year of high school for seniors. Lots of memories to be made still along with all the milestones and events that you have been waiting for!

This senior wanted her senior pics to be in a field to go with her country vibe. We had a beautiful evening with magical light for her portraits. Perfect for this young lady and the outfits she picked.

This adorable white ensemble with cowboy boots really showed off her personality and worked wonderfully with her surroundings. She changed into two other outfits for variety and to switch up a vibe just a tad.

For her second outfit, she chose this adorable yellow flower set that worked great with the yellow flowers found in the field. Love the tie in the back!

Her last outfit for her senior pics was this pink tie front shirt with puffy sleeves and white jean shorts. Such a popular, on trend outfit to showcase this time in her life.

Such an honor to photograph this OCHS senior! This is one of my favorite fields to photograph in, but there are others in the area in case this one isn’t in its prime. I am always keeping my eyes open for the perfect spot for my clients. So happy with how this location worked for this senior session.

Senior Pics Of A Girl Who Loves Books

These senior pics are some of my favorite when it comes to a themed portrait session! I love it when seniors incorporate their favorite hobbies and interests into their portraits.

This young lady is an avid reader and she had mentioned her love of books in her questionnaire. I instantly knew that we needed to include images of her favorite pass time in her senior photos. I put together a storyboard with ideas and colors that I thought would work well for her session. Her outfit worked out perfectly and I love that she brought her favorite books and flowers from her mom’s garden. The field is also on her family’s farm, which was a delight with the flowers and romantic flowing tall grass. They even have a swing in a couple of trees!

When Should I Schedule An Heirloom Photography Session?

Heirloom portraits are such a staple for many families – especially here in the South. These sessions are rather simple in style. Usually a white or a hand painted canvas backdrop. Attire is traditional timepieces – usually with smocking, lace, Peter Pan collars, all in white, cream or pastel colors. Silver rattles and favorite stuffed animals sometimes make their appearance as well. Full body and tight shots where the focus is on the face are both featured.

BEST AGES FOR HEIRLOOM PHOTOGRAPHY SESSION

Heirloom photography is a classic way to document your child between the ages of 1-10. Many families choose a specific age depending on when they had their own portraits done as a child or when they feel is most fitting to start the tradition themselves. The most popular age I see clients for their heirloom photography session is between three and four years old. This is the age range where the child can take some direction and is attentive. They still have those precious filled out faces and adorable child features that just don’t last. I have quite a few parents bring their one year old in for this timeless portraits as well.

BOOK A PRIVATE SESSION OR A SPOT AT AN HEIRLOOM PHOTOGRAPHY EVENT

I offer heirloom photography events four times a year – one for each season. These are done on a specific day and are scheduled back to back for 15 minutes each. When siblings are scheduled one after another, I include a sibling portrait as well! The backdrop is a simple white seamless paper and we do some images with a chair, stool or bench as well as without.

If you think your child needs more time or if you want more customization, I suggest booking your own heirloom session. This allows you more time, choices in backdrops (handprinted canvases or seamless papers), outfit changes, more variety with furniture, etc… You will also get to choose if you do the session in the Yvonne Niemann Photography home studio, at your home or other location. Some families even choose a pretty manicured garden for their child’s heirloom portraits. Of course, multiple children can be included when you book your private heirloom photography session, which is great for larger families.

Heirloom Photography in near Atlanta

Silhouettes are available when you do an heirloom session. You can choose from the classic black or a watercolor in gray, blue or pink. If it is something you are wanting, bring a hair tie to put your little girl’s hair in a ponytail if she has longer hair. Boys and girls with short hair, don’t need anything extra.

Wondering when to schedule your maternity photos? I typically recommend planning your session toward the beginning of the third trimester - when your beautiful belly is showing, but you are still comfortable enough to move, explore and enjoy the experience.

This summer maternity session took place along the shoals, where the cool water offered a refreshing escape from the Georgia heat and a beautiful setting for documenting this family before their newest little one arrived.

The third trimester is also the perfect time to reserve your newborn session. I keep my newborn calendar intentionally light and flexible, so whether your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, your family is guaranteed a place on my schedule.

Sibling images are such an important part of a newborn session. They preserve the very beginning of a lifelong relationship—the wonder, curiosity and tenderness of welcoming a new baby into the family.

Toddlers do not always understand posing, so sometimes we turn it into a game. For this image, I tucked a little surprise near baby brother, encouraging his big sister to lean in and look closely. The result is a beautifully natural moment that feels connected, timeless and entirely her.
