Motherhood Lifestyle Photography In Watkinsville, GA

A couple of nights ago I had the privilege of holding a family lifestyle photography session in this beautiful field in Watkinsville. Prior to the pandemic, this beautiful mom’s husband gifted her with a gift certificate for a portrait session. Unfortunately, things got delayed due to the crazy times of COVID-19, but she finally got her dream session with the loves of her life! Such a sweet and thoughtful gift that she finally got to utilize. She sure waited patiently for these images!

Mom had mentioned that she wanted a field lifestyle photography session and I had a few locations in mind that I know photograph beautifully. After doing some location scouting with exactly what type of field she had in mind, I found this particular place that I knew would be perfect. I actually drive by this area almost daily and it takes my breath away every single time I pass it in the early morning or late afternoon. Quite magical at sunrise or sunset with how the sun peeks through the trees and makes the tall grass shimmer. We were originally going to do a sunrise session, but we moved in to the evening to get the angles she wanted and to have dry grass and bit warmer temperatures. So beautiful!

This family of four is just the sweetest and really hold a special place in my heart. They happen to live across the street from me, so I get the honor of watching these two little ones grow over the years. Big sister was born a few days before we moved into our house and she is now the same age that my daughter was when we moved here. I adore her personality. She has great fashion sense, speaks her mind, tells great stories, has a great imagination, loves the outdoors and absolutely adores her brother. Little brother seems to go with the flow and follows his sister around. He has the most soulful eyes, is extremely thoughtful and loves running and exploring. He is at the age where he is testing his independence and therefore likes to do things on his own, but still loves being held and being cuddled. There is a picture that I love from their session, where he cuddles into his sister’s lap, which is something I have seen quite a bit from across the street. What a great time these two will have growing up together. They are SO close!

I have to talk about their wardrobes for a moment as mom did such a fantastic job picking out their outfits. I adore the color palette of pastel green, pink, white and tan. Perfecting for a lifestyle photography session in a natural field. I am in love with mom’s dress and how she chose pink earrings to bring in the pink of her daughter’s tulle dress. Dad is not pictured here, but he wore tan pants and a white linen button up top with the sleeves rolled up. Such classic choices and really works well together. Keeps focus on the family members and is super pleasing to the eye. Great example of what to wear for family portraits for Spring and Summer.

Family Pictures on UGA North Campus

This is such a great time for family pictures on UGA North Campus here in Athens. College students have left campus, weather isn’t too hot yet and everything is lush green and in full bloom. Could not ask for a more relaxing atmosphere for family pictures.

We started this family’s portrait session at Founder’s Garden and then moved over to another part of campus where we could utilize the pretty columns and walkways. It worked out perfectly and went so well with their outfit choices. Love the color palette that mom chose. What is more classic than red, white and blue? Red is such a great pop of color and is great when done in small amounts. Love the classic shoes for the girls as they will always be in style and stand the test of time. Great for images that you want to have up on your walls for years to come!

The girls love their baby dolls that they got for Christmas, so we had to include them in some portraits too. Such great mommies these two girls are to their babies. I love it when parents include their children’s favorite toys and lovies in their portraits. It is something that will really showcase this time in your children’s lives and sometimes it is a big part of your family dynamic as well.

We finished up their family pictures with a nice little stroll on the beautiful walkways on UGA’s campus. As you can see, the lights had already switched on, which I think really adds to this finished portrait. Love the glow and added interest. Aren’t they just the sweetest family? All these smiles are genuine and they truly do love their time together. I love watching these five together and how they love each other. It is indeed something special to witness.

Three Month Baby Photos | Knoxville, TN

This three month old’s baby photos were such an honor to capture! I have been photographing this family since their eldest was born and was a tiny little newborn. So, it is just amazing to be able to see this family grow over the years. Happy to have traveled to Knoxville for these special milestone baby photos!

We had planned on starting with their baby photos outside, but due to rain, we ended outside at a park down the street from their house and began at their home. This worked out perfectly as everyone was able to ease into the session a bit more at their own pace and allowed the weather to do what it had to. Being flexible can be super important for portrait sessions – especially in the Spring when rain frequently enters the scene.

The image below is part of a series that we did showing this baby girl’s growth through her first year of life. These Cuddle+Kind dolls dolls are a perfect way to document your little one and to show their changes. I could not get over this Southern belle had grown since her newborn baby photos three months prior. This set-up really showcased that! See how much she has grown by comparing her newborn baby photos of her with the same set-up!

The image above was a recreation of her mom’s own baby photos. Same dress and we tried to mimic the pose and eyelet pillow as much as possible. I love being able to make images like this that bring such sentimental value to families. I can just see this image next to her mom’s own baby portrait form when she was the same age.

Love all the outfit choices mom chose for her daughter’s baby photos. She mixed in some family heirlooms along with some sweet timeless pieces that will always stand the test of time. The soft tones of the color palette also allows focus to stay on the subjects. For the images where other family members are included, I love how everyone coordinates, but are not matchy matchy. The pastel colors go wonderfully with the surroundings and for this time of year.
