Children’s Heirloom Photos In Athens, GA

There is nothing like children’s heirloom photos. Such a classic way to document your children. These sisters came in during this past Winter’s heirloom portrait event. Such a joy photographing these two. They are wearing dresses handmade with much love by a family member. So beautiful and the best sentimental family heirlooms that will surely be passed down to their own children one day.

I like to mix things up a little bit for children’s heirloom photos. I always do some close ups, full body and then utilize a chair, stool and/or bench. I also have tricks up my sleeve to ensure cooperation from toddlers.

When is the best time for a newborn session?

For those tiny, curled-up, super sleepy images, I usually recommend the first two weeks.

But honestly… there’s no wrong time to document a new baby.

Many of my families choose to schedule their session around six weeks. By then baby is a little bigger, often more wide-eyed and curious, and parents and siblings are usually more rested and settling into their new rhythm.

You may still get some sleepy moments — just a little less curled up.

Every stage of these early days is beautiful and worth remembering.

It’s flattering, gentle on skin tones, and creates that dreamy glow you simply can’t replicate at noon. The wind calms, the beach feels peaceful, and the magic naturally unfolds.

This sweet mother-daughter moment was captured on Jekyll Island at Driftwood Beach just as the sun was rising — when the sky turns pastel and the reflections shimmer along the shoreline.

When you trust the light, you get images that feel timeless, effortless, and full of heart.
