Walking Baby Milestones

This morning I got to spend some time with this beauty for her walking baby milestones photo session in Oconee County, GA. She recently celebrated her first birthday, which is so hard to believe. Seems like just yesterday I photographed her three month milestone session! Crazy how fast time flies and how much little ones advance in that short time.

Capturing those first year milestones with portraits is such a great idea. These moments are fleeting. Photographic artwork is a great way to keep these memories alive for a lifetime. I know that I study the images from when my daughter was this small from time to time. I take it all in and am momentarily transformed back into that time. Their different personalities come through these images as well as all their little features. Such an honor to be able to capture moments like this for my clients.

Miss E enjoys singing, dancing and playing with balls. I knew balloons would keep her occupied and happy during her session, so I made sure to have plenty ready! It worked out great. She collected them, threw them in the air, danced and walked among them! Sooo cute and fitting for any child who loves balloons and/or balls!!!!

This Southern lady is wearing one of her Aunt’s baby smocked dress. I love it when families dress their babies in family heirlooms like this. Such a classic style and will always have special meaning! Great example of what to wear for a baby’s milestone portraits.

I have always been inspired by nature and it will always be something I love to photograph. I think it shows in my work with my portrait sessions too. I love finding locations that have elements of nature I adore. Magical lighting. layers of foliage, pretty flowers, pathways, tunnels of trees, boulders, various water elements and all the little details in between.

Looking forward to Spring and all that it brings. Since moving to Georgia, it is my absolute favorite season. What`s your favorite?

As things are warming up, nature is coming alive. You can see hints of it with grass greening up, tiny buds on trees and certain flowers showing off their beauty already. That also means that cherry blossoms will be flowering in the near future too!

I`ll be keeping an eye on things and when I have a better prediction of when they will be in bloom, I`ll make an announcement. Stay tuned.

Being in the south, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I LOVE snow.

This picture was taken in a blizzard down the street from where I lived in St. Louis. Can you believe this was in March, right before Easter?! This is NOT a black and white picture. It just looks like it due to the snow conditions. We already had leaves on the trees, which made the snow coverage that much more magical too.

Now, I do not miss the dirty, slushy mess that comes after a snow like this, but I do miss sledding, making forts and snowmen, and having snowball fights.

Hope everyone fares well with the winter storm this weekend.
