Authentic St. Louis Family Portraits

Last Spring, I had fun photographing this family of four at this beautiful Victorian park in St. Louis. It was the perfect location for this young family to show their strong connections and authentic selves. The light around sunset gave a beautiful glow and all the flowers in bloom fit in nicely with their outfits and demeanor. The youngest of the siblings was at the age where she lost interest fairly quickly, so we constantly switched things up for her, which made her happy and gave us some fun and pretty family portraits. Mom did such a great job coordinating their outfits. I love how she mixed patterns and pulled out colors in each of the dresses to go with the parents’ shirts. The outfits were also weather appropriate for the warm weather we were having. Very nice! I love how this family plays together and go on little explorations in their daily lives. I think that these images really shows how happy they all are as a complete family unit!

This is my sweet baby girl. She is obviously not a baby anymore, but rather a beautiful young lady, but she will ALWAYS be MY baby. I am sure all parents can relate.

Lily is why I do what I do. Before I got pregnant, I was a video producer with some crazy hours. When I found out I was expecting, my husband and I looked into childcare options, but weren`t having much luck finding what we needed. My heart was telling me to be with my daughter. I didn`t want to miss out on anything. My plan was to freelance, but the hours honestly weren`t much different, so I decided to stay home with my baby girl.

I had always done photography on the side. Early on, I did photo journalism, but then switched over to doing it as a hobby once I started my career in video. I worked for a photographer for a short time in college who had her studio in her home and always thought that would be perfect for when I had my own family. So, that is exactly what I set my mind to once I made the decision to quit the video world. As a mom, it would allow me to set my own goals, hours and run things the way I wanted.

Owning my own business has been such a blessing! I get to be there for my daughter and family while feeding into my passion for photography. It gives me such freedom and makes my heart sing with every session I do. Love documenting important moments for my clients throughout their journey of life. Such an honor and something that I don`t take lightly.

Thank you Lily for leading me down this path and allowing me to do what I am truly passionate about. Getting pregnant with you was the push I needed to make my dreams a reality.

You know when people say that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life? I can attest that is very true. It is what I hope for my daughter and all of you!
