Pantone announced the color of the year for 2015 as Marsala not too long ago, so I thought it would be fitting to put together a what to wear inspiration board for a family session using this rich red wine hue as the color palette. It just so happens that Marsala is also very fitting for Winter family portraits, or any portraits during this time of year actually! In the example below, I used the 2015 color of the year as the main color and then added cream, black, gray and gold. I started with the mom’s outfit and then pulled colors from her wardrobe for dad and baby daughter. I love the textures and layers, which adds interest and is pleasing to the eye. I just adore winter white during this time of year as I feel it compliments the natural elements and really makes accent colors pop! I can see this family all cozy and cuddling up together in many different settings. It would look lovely surrounded by all the green pine trees that we have here in Georgia, in a golden overgrown field as well as in downtown Athens among all the lights that are still on the tree-lined streets.
