Oconee County High School Senior Portraits In Charleston

Today is my daughter’s last home game of her high school career. It is bittersweet for sure. I remember when she decided to try out and the excitement of making both sideline and courtside squads. To see it coming to a close is very surreal. Don’t blink. It really goes by so fast. Very excited for her as she gets closer to starting her next chapter in this crazy journey of life.

This past Fall, we headed to Charleston to check out the College of Charleston and for my daughter’s senior portraits. Such an honor that she asked me to be her photographer for this big milestone!

Our hotel was close to all the locations she wanted for her senior portraits. We started with some images of her in her cheer uniform before she did an outfit and hair change.

We then headed to Rainbow Row for those beautiful colors that speak to my senior gal! In fact, she has some watercolor paintings of this street on her bedroom wall.

Our last location was The Battery. Perfect place for her green dress. Love that she chose Charleston for her senior portraits. The outfits she chose were very fitting. She tends to wear a lot of athletic wear, but when she dresses up, she opts for classy pieces that are flattering and stand the test of time.

Nothing like a sleeping baby! Sometimes when a little one is having problems falling (or staying asleep) a swaddle can be a wonderful tool. Gives little ones comfort and a reminder of being in the womb. It is why I do a lot of swaddled images during a newborn session. Plus it is just precious!

A common question I get regarding heirloom sessions is what is the best age for these type of portraits.

Heirloom photography is a classic way to document your child between the ages of 1-10. Many families choose a specific age depending on when they had their own portraits done as a child or when they feel is most fitting to start the tradition themselves.

The most popular age I see clients for their heirloom photography session is between three and four years old. This is the age range where the child can take some direction and is attentive. They still have those precious filled out faces and adorable child features that just don’t last. I have quite a few parents bring their one year old in for this timeless portraits as well.

Many families choose to do a few sessions at various ages to show the growth of their child and put together a composite photographic wall art piece.
