Autumn family pictures in St. Louis are always a special treat for me. So good seeing families that I have been photographing for years and meeting new families as well. Cannot beat the Fall foliage either. So pretty and vibrant.
This sweet family chose to do their Autumn family pictures at their home this year. It turned out so well. Behind their home in Frontenac, they have some beautiful trees and natural grass. The trees were showcasing their Fall beauty and the light that came through the jewel toned leaves, glowed in such a magical way. So fitting that they view they see daily is the backdrop for their family pictures too!
While the parents finished getting ready, I began photographing the kiddos. They have grown so much and their personalities are so fun and sweet. Big brother has always been the person to make his sister laugh since she was a baby and it is great to see that he can still work that magic on her.
When the parents came out, we moved over to the more wooded area of the back yard, which gave us different hues and variety in their Autumn family pictures. Love the muted tones that still have a richness to them. Fall is amazing like that!
We switched back to the first area we photographed the kiddos in once the light was diffused from the trees for the last part of their session. When the sun is coming through the trees instead of above them is when the magic really happens with the Fall foliage. Can you see the difference?!
Mom did a great job with dressing her family for their Autumn family pictures as usual. Love the color palette of blue, cream and sage green. Works so well with the season, their surroundings and their home decor. This is a great example of how to coordinate everyone’s wardrobe and even mix patterns for your family pictures.
I travel to St. Louis a few times a year when families commission me to photograph them. My next trip in the area will be in the Spring.
