Swaddled sleeping baby and newborn feet

Yesterday I photographed this winter newborn at his home in Athens, GA. Doesn’t he look so cozy here? He really likes being swaddled. Every time I would swaddle him tightly, he would calm down and fall asleep, which he really needed after all the awake time he had throughout the day. His wakeful moments allowed us to get sweet images showcasing those beautiful eyes, which is always  a nice treat! His parents are so in love with their baby boy and I know that the feeling is quite mutual! I love all the sentimental items that they have kept to pass down to their son as those family heirlooms are part of this family’s history and tell so many stories. Luckily we were able to photograph some of those treasured keepsakes that I know will be loved by this lil’ man for many years to come. Enjoy the sneak peek! Many many more to come…

When planning portrait sessions, I always encourage families to include the animals that hold such a special place in their hearts. They are part of your story too.

This sweet girl adores her beloved horse and says he is “the most gentle, loving horse” she has ever known. Watching the two of them together was pure magic. The quiet connection, trust, and love between them is something worth documenting and cherishing for generations.

When I asked this little girl where her favorite spots are on her home property, she mentioned the peonies out front. They were in full bloom and her little hands couldn’t resist them as she showed me some of her most beloved flowers.

At sessions, I always encourage incorporating the things your children love most into your portraits. These details may feel small now, but they become part of their story - their season, their wonder, their childhood. The result? Images that feel personal, meaningful, and timeless.
