Motherhood is such a wonderful gift and one of my favorite things to photograph. This mother/daughter duo is so much fun together and their special bond is apparent. Mom is super calm, patient and loving and lil’ Miss L is so sweet, inquisitive and full of energy. I adore the many faces of this nine month old beauty. Her face would light up with a big smile, turn to a surprised look, a look of wonder and calm love all in what seemed like a few seconds. Amazing how fast they react to what is around them and how they feel. It’s like some magic switch.
I have many tricks up my sleeve to evoke emotions to bring out those natural and real moments, which result in meaningful and organic portraits. Worked out great for this lil’ lady who was on the move and loses interest rather quickly, just like any baby her age does.

The cream dress with the many layers in the skirt give interest with texture, while keeping the focus on this lil’ beauty and her wonderful personality. The faux fur and bonnet is perfect for chilly days. The bonnet is actually a family heirloom of mine as it is what my dad wore as a baby with his christening gown and then my daughter wore it for her baptism as well. The stool with soft faux fur padded top is perfect for babies who are cruising, but can’t stand on their own quite yet. Gives variety, stability and showcases this important milestone.
I helped mom coordinate her outfit to complement the location as well as her daughter’s wardrobe. The neutral colors really keep attention on mother and daughter and the connection they share. The beading on mom’s sweater is a nice touch, while also being a nice option for moms who don’t want to wear too much jewelry during this stage where babies love to tug and chew on necklaces. I like to keep the focus on the connections and love between family members, which is why I recommend staying away from loud colors and distracting patterns in clothing.
