St. Louis Spring Grandmother & Grandchildren Portrait

There is truly nothing like the relationship between a grandmother and her grandchildren. Thrilled to have spent part of the afternoon photographing this family this past Saturday in St. Louis. I had first photographed this beautiful lady with her family when her first grand baby was born about three and a half years ago. Now, she is a proud grandmother of two!

I love it when grandparents choose to be photographed with their grandchildren. I only wish I had images like this with my own grandmother, so I know how much these images will mean to everyone now as well as later.

You can just see the love, ease and pride of this beautiful lady as she holds her lil’ ones. I know that the feeling is quite mutual. The young man in this image had the special treat to go to grandma’s house after the portrait session and he couldn’t wait to play games and do all the things that he loves at her house. The youngest one here is just a bit over five months and is the most laid back baby I have met. She really enjoyed her cuddle time with her grandmother.

I think they did a great job with wardrobe selection. They coordinate wonderfully together as well as with the location. Very fitting for Spring portraits.

This is my sweet baby girl. She is obviously not a baby anymore, but rather a beautiful young lady, but she will ALWAYS be MY baby. I am sure all parents can relate.

Lily is why I do what I do. Before I got pregnant, I was a video producer with some crazy hours. When I found out I was expecting, my husband and I looked into childcare options, but weren`t having much luck finding what we needed. My heart was telling me to be with my daughter. I didn`t want to miss out on anything. My plan was to freelance, but the hours honestly weren`t much different, so I decided to stay home with my baby girl.

I had always done photography on the side. Early on, I did photo journalism, but then switched over to doing it as a hobby once I started my career in video. I worked for a photographer for a short time in college who had her studio in her home and always thought that would be perfect for when I had my own family. So, that is exactly what I set my mind to once I made the decision to quit the video world. As a mom, it would allow me to set my own goals, hours and run things the way I wanted.

Owning my own business has been such a blessing! I get to be there for my daughter and family while feeding into my passion for photography. It gives me such freedom and makes my heart sing with every session I do. Love documenting important moments for my clients throughout their journey of life. Such an honor and something that I don`t take lightly.

Thank you Lily for leading me down this path and allowing me to do what I am truly passionate about. Getting pregnant with you was the push I needed to make my dreams a reality.

You know when people say that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life? I can attest that is very true. It is what I hope for my daughter and all of you!
