St. Louis City Maternity Photography

This St. Louis City maternity photography session was a lot of fun! These expecting parents are so in love with each other and with their baby boy they created together. Since this couple spends a lot of time at restaurants on Washington Street and at the Landing, we decided this downtown location would be the perfect backdrop for their maternity portraits. The colors and textures of the City added some interest and the archways mimicked the glorious growing belly of this mom-to-be. Pregnancy is such a special and intimate time in a couple’s journey together. Creating images like this is always an honor and an exciting time! I love how these two cuddled together and talked about their plans as a family once their baby arrived. Dad-to-be video taped certain parts of the photography session as he was documenting the pregnancy so they could remember all the important moments. It was super cute as he explained to their son what mommy was doing and how stunning she is. I even got to say “hi” to the lil’ guy on video, which was a privilege to be included in their video journal. This couple’s excitement is quite contagious and I think shines through their maternity portraits.

Timing is everything when it comes to beach portrait sessions.

There’s a reason I plan my sessions for the edges of the day. Right before sunrise and just before sunset, the sun sits low on the horizon, wrapping everything in soft, golden light. It’s flattering, gentle on skin tones, and creates that dreamy glow you simply can’t replicate at noon. The wind calms, the beach feels peaceful, and the magic naturally unfolds.

This sweet mother-daughter moment was captured on Jekyll Island at Driftwood Beach just as the sun was rising — when the sky turns pastel and the reflections shimmer along the shoreline.

When you trust the light, you get images that feel timeless, effortless, and full of heart.

I have always been inspired by nature and it will always be something I love to photograph. I think it shows in my work with my portrait sessions too. I love finding locations that have elements of nature I adore. Magical lighting. layers of foliage, pretty flowers, pathways, tunnels of trees, boulders, various water elements and all the little details in between.

As things are warming up, nature is coming alive. You can see hints of it with grass greening up, tiny buds on trees and certain flowers showing off their beauty already. That also means that cherry blossoms will be flowering in the near future too!

I`ll be keeping an eye on things and when I have a better prediction of when they will be in bloom, I`ll make an announcement. Stay tuned.
