Portrait of Puppy Love in St. Louis

Meet the newest addition to the Niemann family! My daughter Lily had been begging for a puppy for almost a year and she finally got her wish. She was very specific in that she wanted a female chocolate lab that she would name Rosebud. It was a long search, but we finally found the perfect puppy and got to bring her home three weeks ago. Once Lily saw her, she decided that the name Rose was more fitting and so now we have two flowers in the family! 😉 On one of our morning walks yesterday, I came across this beautiful field and thought it would be perfect for some portraits, so last night we headed back to capture Lily and her puppy Rose. I couldn’t be happier with the results and am so happy that I have this portrait of the two of them at this stage of both of their lives. Lily just graduated kindergarten and Rose is almost three months! Such milestones for both of them. I will be enlarging this as big as I can go and will cherish it for the rest of my life.

One of my favorite locations is almost ready for pretty cherry tree blossom sessions! Every year is a little different - sometime the blooms are pink and other years they are the palest of pink. Lighting is perfect, lots of trees to give dimension and plenty of room to explore, cuddle and move.

It’s flattering, gentle on skin tones, and creates that dreamy glow you simply can’t replicate at noon. The wind calms, the beach feels peaceful, and the magic naturally unfolds.

This sweet mother-daughter moment was captured on Jekyll Island at Driftwood Beach just as the sun was rising — when the sky turns pastel and the reflections shimmer along the shoreline.

When you trust the light, you get images that feel timeless, effortless, and full of heart.
