What a joy to photograph this lil’ beauty. Less than a week old for her natural newborn photography session at her family home in Athens, GA. She is a dream baby who only really fusses when she REALLY needs something. Lucky parents to have such a laid back baby girl. Her parents were so happy that we were able to document her sweet smiles that she likes to sneak in from time-to-time. I know that we are told that those are actually gas smiles, but I wonder if there is more to it. I am sure newborn’s dream and when they smile, I have to wonder what exactly they are dreaming about – especially since they’ve only been on earth for a short time. Are they dreaming about their time in the womb with all the warmth, comfort, muffled sounds and the movements from their mom, or are they dreaming about those first moments meeting their parents out in the world and all the kisses, hugs and cuddles they get now that they are born. If only we knew… Regardless, welcome to this crazy world little Miss L. I’m sure you have many adventures and happy times ahead.

This is my sweet baby girl. She is obviously not a baby anymore, but rather a beautiful young lady, but she will ALWAYS be MY baby. I am sure all parents can relate.

Lily is why I do what I do. Before I got pregnant, I was a video producer with some crazy hours. When I found out I was expecting, my husband and I looked into childcare options, but weren`t having much luck finding what we needed. My heart was telling me to be with my daughter. I didn`t want to miss out on anything. My plan was to freelance, but the hours honestly weren`t much different, so I decided to stay home with my baby girl.

I had always done photography on the side. Early on, I did photo journalism, but then switched over to doing it as a hobby once I started my career in video. I worked for a photographer for a short time in college who had her studio in her home and always thought that would be perfect for when I had my own family. So, that is exactly what I set my mind to once I made the decision to quit the video world. As a mom, it would allow me to set my own goals, hours and run things the way I wanted.

Owning my own business has been such a blessing! I get to be there for my daughter and family while feeding into my passion for photography. It gives me such freedom and makes my heart sing with every session I do. Love documenting important moments for my clients throughout their journey of life. Such an honor and something that I don`t take lightly.

Thank you Lily for leading me down this path and allowing me to do what I am truly passionate about. Getting pregnant with you was the push I needed to make my dreams a reality.

You know when people say that if you do what you love, you never work a day in your life? I can attest that is very true. It is what I hope for my daughter and all of you!
