Fun Family Photography in St. Charles

This family photography session in Historic St. Charles was so much fun! It was typical Spring weather with lots of rain surrounding their session, but we got a break just in time for their portraits. The grass was that beautiful shade of green that only comes around during that time of year and the flowers were in full bloom. Such a pretty time. We picked this location because the family spends a lot of time in this area and we didn’t have to worry about the super saturated and flooded ground that was in the St. Louis area at the time. It turned out perfect! Not only was the surroundings perfection for this family, but I love how the family coordinated their outfits down to their shoes! This family was so sweet together and you can really tell that they enjoy their time together. I was so happy that they included their dog in their portraits as it shows the full dynamic of this family! There’s a reason I plan my sessions for the edges of the day. Right before sunrise and just before sunset, the sun sits low on the horizon, wrapping everything in soft, golden light. It’s flattering, gentle on skin tones, and creates that dreamy glow you simply can’t replicate at noon. The wind calms, the beach feels peaceful, and the magic naturally unfolds.

This sweet mother-daughter moment was captured on Jekyll Island at Driftwood Beach just as the sun was rising — when the sky turns pastel and the reflections shimmer along the shoreline.

When you trust the light, you get images that feel timeless, effortless, and full of heart.
