Fresh Eight Days Old

Naturally peaceful sleeping eight day old newborn boy at his home in Athens, GA.

I finally got to meet this eight days old newborn boy today at his home in Athens, GA! The last time I met him, he was in his mommy’s belly for their maternity photography session, which was posted yesterday here on the blog. This was an extra special treat to see him in the world. He is such a peaceful and laid back little baby. When I arrived, he was asleep and stayed that way for all of the portraits with him and his parents. After he ate, we were able to get a lot of sleeping shots again to finish up his newborn session by himself. Isn’t he just perfection? He has such a beautiful complexion, full lips, long eye lashes, full head of hair and long fingers. He was over 9 pounds when he was born and is super strong. Such a healthy and happy baby boy. Lucky parents. Congrats R family on the birth of your son. He completes your family very nicely.

One of my favorite locations is almost ready for pretty cherry tree blossom sessions! Every year is a little different - sometime the blooms are pink and other years they are the palest of pink. Lighting is perfect, lots of trees to give dimension and plenty of room to explore, cuddle and move.

There’s a reason I plan my sessions for the edges of the day. Right before sunrise and just before sunset, the sun sits low on the horizon, wrapping everything in soft, golden light. It’s flattering, gentle on skin tones, and creates that dreamy glow you simply can’t replicate at noon. The wind calms, the beach feels peaceful, and the magic naturally unfolds.

This sweet mother-daughter moment was captured on Jekyll Island at Driftwood Beach just as the sun was rising — when the sky turns pastel and the reflections shimmer along the shoreline.

When you trust the light, you get images that feel timeless, effortless, and full of heart.
