Now that Autumn is officially here, many families are beginning to think about updating their annual portraits. With that, comes the common question, “What to wear?!”
Below is an example of how to put together your family’s wardrobe for your upcoming photo session in the Athens, GA area. I always suggest starting with a color palette and then having mom choose something she feels fabulous in. Once that’s taken care of, start coordinating the rest of the family members to mom. Notice how the colors in mom’s outfit are also incorporated in the other wardrobes? Great example of how to coordinate without looking matchy matchy, while still showing off everyone’s unique personalities.
Make sure to think about the location of your portrait session as well to make sure that you don’t clash with the colors and vibe of the area that will become the backdrop of your portraits. In the example here, this family’s outfits are casual, which would work in many different settings, but would not be the best choice for a more formal location. This would be perfect for an outdoor family photo session in a field, in the woods, on a farm or even in one of our beautiful downtown settings (Athens, Watkinsville, Madison, etc…) Have fun with your outfits and picking out accessories!
