“We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors. We borrow it from our children.” ~ CHIEF SEATTLE
This little one week old infant boy is such a sweet heart. He loved being swaddled and the soft natural fabric emphasized his beauty, while keeping him comfy. The image above was special to his mom as it was her teddy bear as a baby, which is now being passed down to her son. I love to incorporate family heirlooms in portrait sessions. So touching and meaningful.
All of my newborn photography has a natural style as I think it showcases the sweetness and purity of a new baby perfectly. I like to keep the focus on the infant and the connections between all the family members. There is nothing better than the instant strong love between parents and their new child and it is such a privilege to capture those bonds during the first few days of life. The neutral color palette gives a sense of calm. It compliments the newborn’s skin tone and that peaceful sweet face of a sleeping baby. This natural look also keeps the final photographic artwork timeless, which I believe is important when you are making family heirloom pieces.
