Beautiful fall family portraits in the woods taken by Athens, GA family photographer, Yvonne Niemann Photography.

Today’s sneak peek is of a family that I’ve been photographing since their family first began with their first daughter. I was so happy to create beautiful family pictures of them again for commissioned portrait sessions. We chose this particular park for their backdrop since it is super close to their house, which made it convenient for this growing family of four. I loved this area in woods, which gave us some variety from the paved trails that are throughout the park. Gave us some privacy too, which is always welcomed. Their newest addition is so sweet and laid back. She absolutely adores being in her parents’ arms. Gives her much comfort. She has the most beautiful big blue eyes and the most perfect round face. She really resembles her big sister from when she was a baby. Such a treat to see! Big sister loves her sibling and is super proud of how she helps take care of her. Wondering when to schedule your maternity photos? I typically recommend planning your session toward the beginning of the third trimester - when your beautiful belly is showing, but you are still comfortable enough to move, explore and enjoy the experience.

This summer maternity session took place along the shoals, where the cool water offered a refreshing escape from the Georgia heat and a beautiful setting for documenting this family before their newest little one arrived.

The third trimester is also the perfect time to reserve your newborn session. I keep my newborn calendar intentionally light and flexible, so whether your baby arrives earlier or later than expected, your family is guaranteed a place on my schedule.

Sibling images are such an important part of a newborn session. They preserve the very beginning of a lifelong relationship—the wonder, curiosity and tenderness of welcoming a new baby into the family.

Toddlers do not always understand posing, so sometimes we turn it into a game. For this image, I tucked a little surprise near baby brother, encouraging his big sister to lean in and look closely. The result is a beautifully natural moment that feels connected, timeless and entirely her.
