Lavender Fields

“Her love was like lavender, delicate and melancholy.” ~ Laura Chouette

Lavender fields in Walla Walla Valley.

Today I am dreaming of these lavender fields in the Walla Walla Valley of Washington State. Such a peaceful and serene setting. The Blue Mountain Lavender Farm was a dream come true and just what I needed as I stepped off the plane. As I drove up to the property, the aroma of lavender lightly touched my nose and surrounded me. There was a bench on one edge of the gardens that I stopped to sit and enjoy the views and take it all in. I collected scissors and a gathering basket to cut some lavender to take with me, but in the end bought some that were freshly cut as the bees made me a bit uneasy since I am allergic. The owner assured me that the bees wouldn’t bother me and I watched others clip away without issue, so I am sure that it would have been fine, but since I was there for work, I did not want to risk it. Next time I will be brave and cut some myself. I really enjoyed walking the farm and taking time to read a bit in between taking pictures. I even had a very pleasant conversation with the owner before he got back to work on his tractor. (that’s him working hard in the pictures above) I loved the store inside where I bought lavender lemonade, a sachet as well as a freshly cut lavender bundle. Perfect relaxing way to start my stay in Walla Walla! I highly recommend stopping by if you are in the area.
