Most of my clients choose to do their newborn photos at home where they are most comfortable in the first days of bringing their infant home. It is a great option for those who want some lifestyle images to show their family life unfold as it grows with the newest addition in the home. This sweet family has chosen this option since they welcomed their first baby into the mix and have continued the tradition with their second son.
I always bring neutral swaddles, blankets and diaper covers for newborn photos at home. I essentially bring the studio to you, so that you don’t have to worry about a thing. I move things as needed to get the best light and shots. I always bring lights and reflectors just in case the light is not ideal. Neutral bed linens work best so that the focus is on your family. Soft colors in clothing is always a great choice for the same reason too.
I adore lifestyle images like the ones below. This little man wasn’t too sure on what to make of his little brother and really wasn’t into holding him or getting too close. Totally normal for children his age. It is quite an adjustment going from single child to having to share the limelight with a little human. Big brother was curious though and didn’t mind looking at him from afar with his mom’s help.
Once big brother fell asleep, we were able to get some sweet cuddly shots of the two brothers together, which mom desperately wanted. Success!
